The lying tongues

Lying tongues are associated with false prophets and teachers of the holy Word of God. I would like to evaluate them as agents of the devil. Mildly put, they are agents of destabilization in the Church of God as of old up to now. They would have studied the Word of God to a reasonable depth. This tends to give them leverage and give them the opportunity to sound convincing. Within their own heart, they have different agenda that lead into turning young or weak Christians from the genuine way of the Lord. To the Almighty God, it is a complete abomination.

They are wolf in sheep’s skin whose sole but hidden purpose is self-aggrandizement, simply put self-seekers. It is not peculiar to Christians of contemporary era but had begun even in Prophet Jeremiah’s historical times. For instance in Jeremiah 14, the bible recounted the sins of the Jews and God decided to punish them with famine. The main reason was sin against the God of Israel. The Lord explained to Jeremiah what he would do mainly because the prophets were not genuine and were guilty of false prophesy. Disaster was looming large but the false prophets, were busy with their lying tongue and perverting the truth as God had made it clear. In Jeremiah 14: 13-14, the bible recorded:  “Alas, Sovereign God! The prophets keep telling them, You will not see the sword or suffer famine. Indeed   I will give you lasting peace in the place.” Then the Lord said to me   “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatrous and the delusion of their own minds. Jeremiah 14: 13-14 (NIV)

In the Churches today, it behoves born-again Christians to avoid the consequences of the act of being false teachers, prophets, pastors, evangelist, bishops, deacons and even the class of Church workers.

Answered Prayer Series # 4

God isn't a robot the way in which HE answers prayers.

God isn’t a robot the way in which HE answers prayers.

Everything that man does has technique or right methodology to guarantee success. Man inherited this from our creator. There is a set pattern of nurturing a child before becoming a worthwhile adult. For prayers to strike the right cord or resonate with the will of God, the person saying the prayer must be certain of things. These include knowing that as a Christian one must know the importance of prayer to a believer. It is the sure source of conversation between man and God. Though man cannot see Him, He is all eyes and ears. Seriousness in prayer raises it to divine level. It is a potent weapon for fighting physical and spiritual wars. In simple language, it is man’s SOS to his maker. 1 Samuel: 12-15; Jeremiah 33: 3; 2 King 19: 4-5; Act 12: 5

What then are the pre-requisites for answered prayers:                         (1). A believer must be very humble wherever or whenever he is praying. (2). One is not a believer if one does not have faith in the prayer one is saying. One needs to pray in faith to God James 1: 6-8       (3). Jesus asked us to pray in His name for His Father to give us HIS attention Phil 2: 9; Act 4: 12. (4). A person must know that his prayer cannot receive God’s approval if it is opposed to the will of God, for instance, cursing others instead of blessing them in prayer. (5). Man needs to remember that God’s ministering Angels are around to teach man how to pray or supplicate answerable prayers. 1 Samuel 15: 22; Matthew 17: 2; Psalm 50: 15 and 2 Chronicles 1: 6-7

We can always ask God to increase our faith in Him. Lastly, we need to intensify talking to ourselves and others about faith-based prayers in this scientific age. Science is being regarded as the be all and end all. What we lose sight of is the fact that scientific discoveries are things new to man but are the next level of God’s release of a tiny speck of his knowledge to ardent seekers. The discoverer can only discover what had been put there, whether tangible or not, visible or invisible. It is only those given or blessed with the uncommon knowledge that can bring it forth to the attention of humanity

Waiting upon God prevents spiritual shipwreck

Waiting upon God prevents spiritual shipwreck

Any form of love that does not line up with the will of God for mankind, is un-arguably non-divine. A situation of professing to be God’s vessel of honor, only to end up engaging in blasphemies against HIM, is a situation of olive leaves of salvation coming to one and one blindfolds self thus refusing and missing the gift of salvation. It may require saints to pray up coupled with the persons confession and heartfelt repentance to be able to get saved. Paul in his epistle in II Timothy 4: 10 said, “For Demas has forsaken me, having loved the present world, and has departed for Thessalonica”. Also Paul said, Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. may the Lord repay him according to his work” II Timothy 4: 14.

They were just there wasting their time working tirelessly until  they turned away from God. Inability to be faithful to the end is a crucial mark of “fig tree syndrome”. Such people abound in homes, at work places, churches, in government business, in politics and in industries. Their general pattern join in fighting the good fight but deserting mid stream and ending in shipwreck of their faith. in other words, they start well but would fail to carry through. The bible warns against this behavior in 1 Timothy 1: 19-20; Luke 12: 35-40; Titus 2: 11-13 and Peter 1: 13-15. Believers need to brace up to changes in their daily life to ensure effectiveness in their physical and spiritual life. Love is persistent and long-suffering.

Waiting upon God's love

Waiting upon God’s love

It is those who have a knack for appreciating good things done to them or experienced from the hands of others that find it easy to give thanks in cash or kind. It is in the form of offering, tithe, seed sowing, rendering free services in the house of God or doing community service selflessly. Even ones time in addition to financial sacrifice constitute thanksgiving borne out of love. We see a perfect example of what man’s love should involve in Habakkuk 3: 17-18 “Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruits be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, Though the flock may be caught off from the fold; And there be no herds in the stalls; Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will joy in the God of my salvation”.

The behavior and life’s work of Abraham with unwavering faith coupled with unalloyed obedience were counted as righteousness Heb.11: 8. There is no wonder the Psalmist  had to write in Psalm 37: 25 “I have been young and now I am old,  Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken; Nor his descendants begging bread”. God cannot be treated as a fair weather friend for while we think he is not paying attention, HIS whole plan for our life is being guarded to prevent derailment of any kind. The bottom line is that we must cultivate the habit of waiting upon the Lord. He neither sleeps nor slumbers. He will surely attend to our needs. Though help may tarry but it will surely come at His own time.

Non-Carnal Love Series #13

Job’s loved  and trusted in God. Divine love of God is meant to be for all but some by individual choice or negative inducement fall out of God’s favor. Those who consciously submit their total being to God irrespective of suffering or possible mortal negative outcome assuredly have God’s attention focused on them to ensure that their latter end is gloriously rewarding. Joshua 23 : 8; Daniel 1: 8; 1 Peter  5:9; Luke 4 : 5-9. This observation seems to capture the life of Job in the darkest maze of his life. Job Chapters 1 and 2. His storm of life was so devastating that without deep-seated love and trust in God, he could have caved in by choosing other man-made gods and missed the glorious end he eventually had.

Ordinarily, from human angle one is likely to change allegiance. For instance, the media reported recently the case of a high school footballer who went to prison for an offence he did not commit. After years of incarceration, there came a self-confession authentic enough to make the man regain his freedom. It was never heard that he took any retaliatory judicial redress. It is only true love of God and ones neighbor that can occasion such. Going through Job’s wife’s insinuation and those of his three friends Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, they offered no succor. Elihu’s contribution showed Job that no one should claim to be guiltless before God. Finally, God spoke to the afflicted Job and took away all his afflictions such that his latter end was far better than his former riches. Job 42 : 1-17.
